Omegon Zenith mirror 90° 1.25 inches is an indispensable accessory for comfortable stargazing. In many refractors, Schmidt-Cassegrains and Maksutovs you would have to look at an awkward angle without a zenith mirror. With this 90° mirror diagonal, you observe straight up without forcing your neck.
A zenith mirror is also called star diagonal or star diagonal and is the standard choice for astronomical observations. Unlike an Amici prism, the zenith mirror does not fully correct the image: it remains left-right mirrored. This is not a problem for astronomy - this is precisely why you get the most high-contrast image without diffraction lines, ideal for the moon, planets and deep-sky objects.
The optics of this Omegon zenith mirror are multicoated, reducing reflections and keeping light transmission high. The result: sharper images and more contrast, even at high magnifications. The ring clamp holds your eyepieces securely without scratching, and via the built-in 1.25” filter thread you can easily use moon or color filters.
Application
Perfect for astronomical observations: the moon, planets and deep-sky objects. Thanks to the 90° view, viewing is comfortable even when objects are high in the sky. Not suitable for terrestrial observations, as the image is not true to nature.
