Sky-Watcher Heritage-100P: Bright and sets up in a flash
The Sky-Watcher Heritage-100P is a tabletop Dobsonian with a 100mm parabolic mirror and a short focal length of 400mm (f/4). This combination provides a wide, bright field of view that makes it easy to find objects. The tube detaches from the wooden base and fits on a photographic tripod, making it extra versatile for on-the-go use. One of the most complete entry-level models in our Dobson assortment, especially with the included 2x Barlow lens.

What do you see through the Heritage 100P?
The moon shows sharp craters and shadows along the terminator. Jupiter displays its cloud bands, Saturn its rings. The wide field of view is ideal for extended objects: the Orion Nebula and the Pleiades fit with plenty of room to spare. The parabolic mirror makes a difference compared to cheaper models in this price range: stars remain points instead of smudges.

Compact design with a smart extra
The Dobson mount runs smoothly and stably. If you want to stand higher or more freely, you can detach the tube from the base with one hand and place it on a tripod. With the included 25 mm and 10 mm eyepieces plus the 2x Barlow lens, you have four magnifications available: 16x, 32x, 40x, and 80x.
This is how to get the most out of this telescope
- Check the collimation regularly. At f/4, the alignment of the mirrors is critical; a slight deviation will be visible in the image. Our guide to collimation explains how to check that in two minutes.
- Expect softer edges. With such a fast f/4 mirror lens, the sharpness at the extreme edge of the image decreases slightly. This is normal for this design; the image is sharp in the center.
- Align the red dot finder during the day On a distant object, you'll find your purpose by evening.
- Combine Barlow and 10mm eyepiece (80x) for planets and use the 25mm eyepiece (16x) to search. Around 80x to 100x is practically the limit with this mirror size.

Not If you want a little more detail on planets and deep-sky objects, then the Heritage-130P FlexTube the logical step. Long exposures of nebulae are not possible on a manual mount; for that, you need the smart telescopes Made. Quick moon photos with a smartphone adapter work just fine and are a nice first success.
