The solid first refractor for the Moon and planets

The Celestron AstroMaster 70AZ is the ideal starting point for anyone who wants to explore the heavens with a high-quality instrument. The 70 mm lens captures 100 times more light than the naked eye—significantly more than the standard 60 mm entry-level models. The long focal length of 900 mm makes high magnification easy: Saturn’s rings, Jupiter’s moons, and countless lunar craters appear in high contrast.

The equatorial mount of the AstroMaster 70AZ

Intuitive aiming with the panhandle

With the azimutha mount, you control elevation and direction with a single handle, just like you point. For beginners and children, that's much more direct than an equatorial mount. The red dot finder helps with rough aiming, and the sturdy steel tripod keeps the image steady.

The eyepieces and the Amici prism of the AstroMaster 70AZ

Completely delivered, also for during the day

The 20mm and 10mm eyepieces provide 45x and 90x magnification respectively; realistically usable magnification is up to about 140x with an additional eyepiece or Barlow lens. The 90-degree Amici prism provides an upright, correctly mirrored image, making the telescope an excellent instrument for daytime nature and landscape observation as well.
