Omegon MightyMak 60/700 Maksutov: the travel-sized Maksutov with LED viewfinder

The Omegon MightyMak 60 with LED viewfinder The complete version of the smallest MightyMak: the same 60/700 Maksutov optics (f/11.7), but mounted on the base of the viewfinder with an LED red dot viewfinder. Aim with both eyes open, point at your target, and look. That way you can find the Moon or Jupiter in seconds.

The MightyMak is a Maksutov-Cassegrain: a closed tube with a coated meniscus lens at the front. Dust and moisture stay out, collimation is rarely needed, and the lens suppresses reflections for a high-contrast image.

The LED finder on the finder base of the Omegon MightyMak

The LED search light makes all the difference

At 700 mm focal length, the field of view is narrow and a viewfinder is not a luxury but a necessity. The red dot projects onto the real sky, so you can aim without searching. This is exactly the part you would buy yourself if you were to opt for the standard version.

Omegon MightyMak Maksutov with diagonal mirror and eyepiece

What you see with a 60 mm aperture

With the included 25 mm eyepiece, you can view at 28x and see the moon disk with craters, the moons of Jupiter and the ring of Saturn. With additional eyepieces, it can be used at up to about 120x. The tube weighs only 0.6 kg and fits in almost any bag.

Telephoto lens and spotting scope in one

Via the T2 thread with a buffer ring, you connect a camera and use the MightyMak as a super telephoto lens. During the day, with the zenith mirror, it's a fully functional spotting scope for birds and landscapes, with an upright image. The GP dovetail fits almost any astronomical mount, and three photo threads make any tripod usable. This way, the tube can later grow with a larger setup.

Featured accessories

The Omegon Mini II Dobson mount (59 euros) transforms the tube into a complete table-mounted Dobson. The Omegon 7-21 mm zoom eyepiece (69 euros) provides infinitely variable magnification from 33x to 100x, an Omegon Premium Moon Filter (19.90 euros) reduces the glare of the moonlight, and with the Omegon smartphone adapter 25-48 mm (14.90 euros) you can take photos of the Moon through the eyepiece.

Never look at the sun through a telescope without a certified solar filter: this will cause permanent eye damage within a second.

For whom yes, for whom no

Well: for those who want the lightest MightyMak complete and ready to use immediately, without having to order a separate viewfinder; not: for those who are looking for more light and detail; the MightyMak 80 and 90 with LED viewfinder clearly offer more for a few extra tens of euros.
