ZWO Methane Band Filter 1.25 inch: Gas Giants in a Different Light
This narrowband interference filter is a specialist: the passband lies precisely on the methane absorption line (CH4, around 889 nm in the near-infrared). Regions with high methane concentrations in the atmospheres of Jupiter and Saturn appear dark, while high cloud layers and storms light up. This allows you to capture structures that remain invisible with standard filters.
The full width at half maximum of 20 nm (200 angstroms) keeps the passband pure and leakage minimal. Because the line lies deep in the infrared, an infrared-sensitive camera is required; visual use is not possible.

Compatibility
Fits in any 1.25-inch filter holder or filter wheel. Use an IR-sensitive camera such as the ASI462MM or ASI174MM; due to the narrow band, longer exposures or higher gain are required than with regular planetary filters.
