ZWO ASI533MC Pro Color: The Carefree Entry into Cooled Deep-Sky

The square Sony IMX533 sensor (3008 x 3008 pixels, 9 MP, 3.76 micrometers) is completely free of amplifier glow, reads out at 14-bit, and is kept 35 degrees Celsius below ambient temperature by Peltier cooling.

The result is a camera that is forgiving in calibration, deep in dynamic range, and delivers good results directly on fast telescopes from f/4 to f/8, from apochromat to Newtonian and HyperStar.

Why the square sensor works

A square field of view doesn't waste resolution on framing: center objects and photograph them, rotation is rarely needed. This format is ideal for globular clusters, galaxies, and compact nebulae.

The pixel size of 3.76 micrometers fits most popular optics and keeps stars tight without oversampling.

Flame retardant and stable

Without amplifier glow and with stable cooling, darks are simple and reliable; many users even work virtually calibration-free. The 14-bit readout provides smooth transitions from nebulae cores to faint outer edges.

The DDR3 buffer memory keeps the USB 3.0 transfer stable; the cooling requires a 12-volt power supply.
