TeleVue DeLite 7mm: 62° 1.25″ Eyepiece: DeLite eyepiece with 62-degree field of view
The DeLite 7 mm falls between planet and deep-sky magnification. For globular clusters and planetary nebulae, this is often the focal length that reveals the most detail.
The DeLite series is designed as a compact version of the Delos: the same principle of a long eye relief, but with a 62-degree field of view and a smaller housing. This makes the series suitable for mounts and binoviewers where weight is a factor.

62 degrees with a long eye relief
The DeLite series is designed as a narrower Ethos field of view with more eye relief. By keeping the apparent field of view at 62 degrees, TeleVue was able to bring the eye relief to 20mm without making the eyepiece unmanageably large.
For eyeglass wearers, that's the difference between seeing the full field of vision and missing a part of it. Even without glasses, you're looking more relaxed because your eye doesn't have to push against the lens.
A usable midpoint
With this magnification, the sky background is already noticeably darker than at low magnification, while the image remains clear enough for faint objects.
For observers who want to work with three eyepieces, the 7 mm together with a long and a short focal length form a logical set.
Interpupillary distance and adjustable eyecup
The eyecup is steplessly adjustable in height and lockable in any position, with index markings so you can find a previously found position. This ensures your eye's pupil is always in the same position relative to the telescope's exit pupil.
That's more than comfort. A misplaced eye causes edge discoloration and shadows in the image. With a fixed, repeatable eye position, that problem is gone, even during long sessions.
In your telescope
In a telescope with a 1200 mm focal length, this eyepiece provides approximately 171x with a true field of view of about 0.36 degrees. For your own telescope, calculate this using the field stop: where field of view = 57.3 x field stop divided by the telescope's focal length.
The effective field of view of this model is 7.6 mm. That number determines how much of the sky you actually see, not just the focal length alone.
Included
- Height-adjustable, lockable eyepiece
- Dust caps for objective and eyepiece lenses
- Filter thread abandoned
Featured accessories
This series accepts TeleVue Dioptrx, which allows you to correct your own astigmatism without glasses. For higher magnifications without sacrificing eye relief, use a Powermate. With a fast parabolic Newtonian, the Paracorr corrects for mirror coma, something no eyepiece alone can solve.
