Sky-Watcher NEQ-5: The classic equatorial mount that grows with you
The NEQ-5 offers a solid foundation for medium-sized telescopes, from a 150/750 Newtonian to a 120mm refractor. The equatorial mount follows the Earth's rotation with a single axis: after aligning to the North Star using the included polar scope, you can smoothly track an object with the fine adjustment knob. The maximum payload capacity is 10 kg.
The mount is manually operated but designed for growth: with the separately available RA and DEC motor set, you can motorize tracking, and with the SynScan GoTo upgrade, you can later make it a fully computer-controlled mount. This way, the NEQ-5 grows with you from visual observation to your first astrophotography.
Included
- NEQ-5 mount head with polar finder
- Steel tripod (up to 123 cm, 5.1 kg)
- 2 counterweights of 5 kg (steel rod Ø20 mm)
- Fine-tuning on both axes
Featured accessories
The Sky-Watcher RA and DEC Motor Set for EQ-5 motors the tracking. The polar scope illumination for EQ3-2 and EQ5 makes alignment in the dark more comfortable, and the Oklop transport bag for EQ5-class heads protects the mount on the go.
For whom yes, for whom no
Good for: visual observers with a medium-sized tube who want equatorial tracking and later motorization. Not for: those who immediately want GoTo; the EQ5 Pro SynScan is the more logical purchase.
