Omegon Pro LRGB CCD filter set 2 inch: LRGB for large sensors

This 2-inch Pro LRGB filter set has been developed for astrophotographers working with large sensors. A color camera uses a fixed Bayer mosaic for color separation, meaning only a portion of the pixels is used per color. A monochrome camera captures each channel separately with the full resolution of the sensor. This results in sharper and more detailed images.

Four filters in 2 inch

Luminance (L) lets all visible light through while blocking UV and IR radiation, capturing the complete structure of an object. Red, green, and blue then form the color layer.

Why 2 inches

With large sensors, a 1.25-inch filter causes vignetting in the corners. The 2-inch size keeps the entire field of view clear, which is particularly noticeable with full-frame and APS-C sensors.

Implementation in practice

Use the set for galaxies, globular clusters, and reflection nebulae. The luminance channel determines the sharpness, so give that the most exposure time and keep the color channels shorter.

Requires a 2-inch filter wheel with sufficient transmission. When purchasing, check whether your filter wheel can handle the frame height of these filters.
