If you live in or near a city and still want to photograph emission nebulae, a narrowband filter will block a lot of light pollution and moonlight. With this Optolong SHO filter set, you can capture nebulae in three bands: sulfur (S-II), hydrogen (H-alpha), and oxygen (O-III). Each filter only allows a narrow band of 6.5 to 7 nm to pass through.
The set is intended for a monochrome camera with a suitable filter wheel. Each filter produces its own black-and-white image, which you later combine into a color image in the familiar Hubble palette.
Before ordering, check that your filter wheel accepts 36 mm filters and that that size fits the sensor of your camera and your lens. Never photograph with it towards the sun. You should only do so with a complete, purpose-built solar filter setup.
If you want an even narrower aperture, there is The 3 nm SHO set in 36 mm. If you are working with 2 inch filters, please check the 7 nm SHO set in 2 inch.
