Optolong Filters SHO 3nm 36mm is specially designed for astrophotographers working with filter wheels and cameras with 36mm unframed filters. The set consists of three high-quality narrowband filters - H-alpha, OIII and SII - with a bandwidth of only 3 nm. These extremely narrow pass areas ensure that only the relevant emission lines are captured, while light pollution and interfering background light are almost completely suppressed.
This precision allows you to photograph emission nebulae with exceptional contrast and detail. The SHO combination (H-alpha, OIII, SII) makes it possible to produce astrophotos in the famous Hubble palette, showing structures and colors in a scientifically inspired way.
The filters feature multiple anti-reflection coatings, which ensure high transmission and minimal halos around bright stars. The optically polished glass ensures sharp images even on telescopes with fast aperture ratios (up to f/3). Thanks to the 36 mm unframed design, they fit seamlessly into most standard filter wheels for astrophotography.
Observation goals
This filter set is ideal for deep-sky astrophotography from light-polluted areas. They come into their own when shooting emission nebulae such as the Rosette Nebula, the Veil Nebula or the North American Nebula. By combining H-alpha, OIII and SII filters, you can compose images in the iconic SHO or Hubble palette, beloved of astrophotographers worldwide.
