Omegon Pro Kolossus Mount: parallelogram mount for weightless viewing

The Colossus is the mount for anyone who wants to observe for a long time and in a relaxed manner with large binoculars. Instead of a fork, it uses a balanced swing arm: the binoculars float before your eyes and follow every movement of your head. Perfect for hour-long Milky Way tours.

This version is the mount without tripod. It has a 3/8-inch connection and requires a sturdy, preferably stainless steel tripod; the bundle with half-column and tripod delivers precisely that.

Operation

A three-part parallelogram arm that rotates 360 degrees and is balanced by two 3.7 kg counterweights. As a result, the viewer moves almost weightlessly: you grab the handles, bring it to your eyes, and let go. It stays in place.

The big advantage over a fork mount: the viewer also moves up and down without changing direction. Watching while sitting, standing, or lying in a garden chair with the same adjustment. Load capacity 5 kg, so up to and including a 20×80 or an Argus 25×100.

Construction

Steel counterweight bar of 86 cm and 20 mm diameter, L-profile with 1/4 inch screw for the telescope, dual handles. Total weight 17.5 kg including weights, so this is a mount for a permanent location in the garden or a short car trip. A transport bag is included.

Which tripod

The center of gravity of a parallelogram lies far outside the tripod's base. A lightweight tripod will tip over. Use the Omegon stainless steel tripod or the Pro Column, or choose the bundle.
