Omegon Pro Estia Focus Motor: automatic focusing with temperature compensation
Manual focusing during a photo session takes time and introduces vibration into the setup. Worse yet, as the night progresses and the temperature drops, the optical tube contracts and the focus slowly drifts. Images taken later in the night will then be softer than those from the beginning.
A focus motor solves both problems. The Estia drives the focuser on command from your software, which itself finds the sharpest position by measuring star diameters. The built-in temperature sensor also automatically compensates for tube shrinkage.

Autofocus via ASCOM and INDI
The motor works with common astrophotography software under both Windows and Linux. The software performs a focus sequence, measures how small the stars are at each step, and sets the motor to the best position.
That saves test recordings. Instead of checking in between, you let the routine run automatically between two filters or every hour.

Temperature compensation
The included sensor measures the ambient temperature. As soon as it drops, the motor moves the focuser by a predetermined factor.
You determine that factor once for your telescope by noting the focus position at two temperatures. After that, the motor maintains the focus independently.

One cable for power and data
The motor operates on 5V via USB-C. Power and control run through the same cable, so you do not need to place a separate power supply next to the mount.
For those who prefer working by hand, a control box is included that allows you to manually operate the focuser without a computer.

Mounting on your own focuser
The motor comes with four couplers and a mounting plate, allowing it to fit the fine adjustment shaft of many common Crayford focusers.
The load capacity is 5 kg. To be sure, check the shaft diameter of your focuser against the included adapters.
Included
- Estia focus motor
- Mounting plate
- Manual control box
- Four couplings for different shaft diameters
- Temperature sensor
- USB-C cable
- Screw set and Allen keys
Featured accessories
This motor is best utilized on a dual-speed Crayford focuser, with the motor coupled to the fine-adjustment shaft. A collimator remains necessary for telescope alignment.
For whom yes and for whom no
- ✓ Astrophotographers who want to shoot all night long
- ✓ Who suffers from focus shift due to a drop in temperature
- ✓ Setups that operate remotely or automatically
- ✗ Pure visual observers: manual focusing is sufficient there
- Focusers without a suitable shaft or with a deviating diameter
- ✗ Who does not use a computer or software with the telescope
