Omegon Pro Crayford Focuser 2 inch Newtonian Dual Speed: the sturdiest choice for a Newtonian
Where the Advanced focusers do a good job, the Pro version takes construction a step further. Large ball bearings run on a stainless steel guide rail instead of on the drawtube itself. That distributes the force and keeps the movement smooth, even when weighted down.
You'll notice the merk effect mainly at the limits of its use: at high magnification, with a heavy camera, and when the telescope is pointed straight up. The focus stays exactly where you set it.

Large bearings on a steel guide rail
The drive does not act directly on the draw tube, but on a hardened steel rail. As a result, the tube does not wear out and the movement remains smooth even after years of use.
The drawtube stays centered, so your image doesn't shift while focusing. Stars stay in place while you search for focus.

50 mm focus track
The 50 mm focusing travel is more generous than on most Newtonian focusers. This allows you to focus a wide variety of eyepieces, Barlows, and camera setups without swapping extension tubes.
The 1:10 fine adjustment ensures precision. The optical length remains limited to 78 mm.

Load capacity of 2.5 kg
With a 2.5 kg load capacity, you can carry a DSLR or astrophotography camera with a filter drawer without the drawtube slipping. The ring clamp distributes the clamping force all around the accessory.
Included
- Pro Crayford focuser with 1:10 dual speed
- 2-inch and 1.25-inch eyepiece adapters
- Accessory ring clamp
Featured accessories
After installing a new focuser, collimation of the Newtonian is necessary. A 1.25-inch laser collimator does that job quickly and accurately. For the final fine-tuning in planetary photography, a helical micro-focuser is a good addition.
For whom yes and for whom no
- ✓ Newton owners who want the best mechanical quality
- ✓ Astrophotographers who want to support a heavy camera stably
- ✓ Anyone who needs a generous focusing distance
- ✗ Anyone observing only visually at low magnification: a simpler model will suffice
- ✗ Telescopes with a different bolt spacing than 78 mm
