Omegon Nightstar 45° Binoculars, 16×70: oblique view and interchangeable eyepieces for 70 mm
The Nightstar 16×70 with 45-degree angle of view sits between ordinary straight binoculars and the Brightsky top-of-the-line models. You get the angled view and the interchangeable 1.25-inch eyepieces, but in a simpler housing and without nitrogen filling. This keeps the price below the thousand-euro mark.
With 3.9 kg, this is a tripod instrument. The 4.3 mm exit pupil and 16x magnification make it suitable for star clusters, the Milky Way and the moon; with other eyepieces you can go higher.

Optics and image
Two 70mm lenses with branda focal length of 380mm, fully multi-coated, with 1.25-inch eyepieces and individual focusing per tube. The supplied eyepieces give 16x magnification. Insert two 10mm eyepieces and you get 38x magnification for the moon.
The image is clear and contrasty in the center; towards the edge, you see some distortion with the standard eyepieces; flatfield eyepieces from the Omegon line make a big difference there.

45-degree visibility
At objects up to about 60 degrees elevation, you sit relaxed behind the viewer. Straight above you it becomes less comfortable; those who want to see the zenith are better off with a 90-degree Brightsky. For nature and the coast during the day, 45 degrees is actually the most comfortable angle.

Construction
Rubber coating, integrated handle, tripod thread, foldable eyepiece caps. Not waterproof and not splashproof: this is a viewfinder for dry nights and a dry storage place. An aluminum carrying case is included.

Mount
3.9 kg requires a fork mount. The Omegon fork mount for large binoculars weighs up to 12 kg and costs a fraction of the binoculars; the Pro Neptune is the more luxurious option with Teflon bearings.
Included
- Binoculars with two 1.25-inch eyepieces
- Aluminum transport case
- Eyepiece caps and lens caps
Featured accessories
