Omegon Hybrid Crayford Focuser Newtonian Dual Speed 2 inch: low profile for astrophotography
In astrophotography with a Newtonian, you often run into a limit: the camera won't go inward far enough to reach focus. That is caused by the physical height of the focuser. Every millimeter that the focuser sticks out above the tube subtracts from your available back focus.
At 48 mm, this focuser has an unusually low profile. As a result, the focal point is brought within reach, even with telescopes where a standard focuser falls short. An additional advantage: the drawtube stays closer to the secondary mirror, allowing you to make use of more of the light cone.

Building height of only 48 mm
The optical length of 48 mm is the lowest in the Omegon range for Newtonian telescopes. Anyone using an astrograph or wanting to install a coma corrector gains the space required for this.
The drawtube is also extendable. You have 22 mm of standard travel plus 43 mm extra, allowing you to reach eyepieces that require a lot of outward travel.

8 kg load capacity
Despite its low profile, this focuser supports up to 8 kg. That is exceptional for this size and means that a complete photographic train is not a problem at all.
The fine adjustment works with a 1:11 reduction, slightly finer even than the usual 1:10.

Stray light under control
The inside of the drawtube has a matte finish and is low-reflection. This suppresses stray light that would otherwise reduce the contrast in your images.
The exterior is black anodized, which, in addition to the appearance, also benefits the wear resistance.
Included
- Hybrid Crayford focuser with 1:11 dual speed
- 2-inch and 1.25-inch eyepiece adapters
- Accessory ring clamp
Featured accessories
A laser collimator is necessary after assembly to realign the Newtonian. For photographic use, a 2-inch helical microfocuser is a useful addition for the final fine-tuning.
For whom yes and for whom no
- ✓ Astrophotographers who lack backfocus
- ✓ Owners of an astrograph or a Newtonian with coma corrector
- ✓ Who wants to carry heavy equipment without sacrificing installation height
- ✗ Telescopes with a bolt spacing other than 80 mm
- ✗ Those who perceive only visually: the low building height offers little in that case
