Omegon Pro Veil H-Alpha Filter 3nm 2 inch: the narrowest passband on hydrogen
With a transmission of only 3 nanometers, this filter cuts even sharper than the 7 nm version. It blocks almost all disturbing artificial light and only lets through the red light from HII regions.
Pro Veil is Omegon's narrow-band series for astrophotography. Each filter comes in a 2-inch aluminum mount with a sturdy protective case.

Where 3 nm makes a difference
The smaller the aperture, the lower the background signal in your recording. Under strong light pollution or moonlight, this results in visibly more contrast than a wider band. The background remains dark, even with long exposures.

What the cost of electricity is
A narrower band also lets through less stray light. Expect longer exposure times per frame than with a 7 nm filter. This is manageable for fast optics, but with long focal ratios, the total session duration increases.

Combine into a color image
In the SHO palette, H-alpha forms the red channel. If you choose the same bandwidth for all three channels, the exposure times will remain comparable to each other.
