Omegon Laser-Collimator 1,25 inch voor Newton

Laser collimator, 1.25 inch, with collimation disc at 45 degrees, for aligning the mirrors of a Newton telescope.

  • Fits into any 1.25 inch eyepiece holder. Only for Newtons (Dobsons and reflectors for mounting); you don't collimate a refractor.
  • For what: Aligning mirrors after transport. At f/5 (brandpoint divided by aperture), this is narrower than at f/8.
  • You can see the dot on the disc from the back and adjust the main mirror only in the dark; the laser requires a CR2032 button cell, not included.
  • An unsharp image almost never results from collimation: first check the focus and let the telescope cool down for 30 minutes.

Omegon Alpha Crayford Focuser 2 inch Newton: the affordable step to smooth focusing

Anyone who owns an entry-level telescope knows the problem: the included focuser is jerky and you keep overshooting the focus point. The Alpha Crayford is the cheapest way to solve that without replacing the rest of the telescope.

The Crayford mechanism works without a rack and pinion, so the movement is smooth and free of backlash. You find the focus point faster and hold it.

Ample focusing travel of 59 mm

With 59 mm of drawtube travel, you have plenty of room to achieve focus with eyepieces of varying heights. A Barlow lens or star diagonal also fits within the range without the need for extension tubes.

To bend friction to one's will

With a set screw, you determine the tension of the focuser. A light setting is nice for light eyepieces, while a heavier setting prevents slipping with a heavier accessory.

The compression ring holds the eyepiece all the way around instead of with a single screw. That prevents tilting and protects the barrel of your eyepiece.

Where this focuser ends

The payload capacity is 1 kg and there is no fine adjustment. For visual work, that is fine. If you want to photograph with a DSLR or astro camera, look at a dual-speed model.

Featured accessories

After installing a new focuser, your Newtonian telescope needs to be re-collimated. A 1.25-inch laser collimator is the fastest solution for this.

For whom yes and for whom no

  • ✓ Beginners with a Newtonian who want to upgrade their standard focuser
  • ✓ Visual observers who want smoother focusing
  • ✓ Anyone who needs a large focus travel for a variety of eyepieces
  • Astrophotography with a heavy camera
  • If you want 1:10 fine adjustment, choose a dual-speed model.
