Omegon 2 inch Helical Microfocuser: the latest micrometers in planetary photography
A microfocuser does not replace your existing focusers; it supplements them. You insert it into the 2-inch barrel like an eyepiece, and then you perform the fine focusing with the helical ring instead of with the large button on your telescope.
That has a practical advantage. Turning the telescope focus ring causes vibrations in the tube and therefore in the image. The helical ring is close to the camera and moves smoothly, so the image remains steady while you focus.

Helical instead of toothed gear
In a helical design, the pull tube slides outward via a screw thread movement. You turn a wide ring and the camera moves in very small increments.
The focusing distance is 40 mm. There is a millimeter scale on the tube, so you can record a found focus position and find it back later.
Strong enough for a real camera
The carrying capacity is 4 kg, well above what most planetary cameras and SLR cameras weigh. The optical length of 57 mm remains limited, so you rarely run out of backfocus.
Connecting to what you already have
The telescope side fits into any 2-inch focusers and also has an M48 internal thread. On the camera side there is also an M48 connection, so you can screw on filters and adapters.
Featured accessories
This microfocuser pairs well with a 2-inch Crayford focus, with the Crayford doing the coarse adjustment and the helicoidal one the fine. For lunar and planetary work, a moon filter is a logical addition.
For whom yes and for whom no

- ✓ Who wants to avoid vibration during focusing
- ✓ Owners of a focus camera without fine adjustment
- ✗ Who is looking for a complete replacement for the telescope focus mechanism
- ✗ Configurations without space in the back focus: the focus lever adds 57 mm
