Omegon 0.5x Reducer for photography halves the focal length of your telescope, giving you twice as wide an image field. This is especially useful when using astronomical webcams or small planetary cameras, where you normally have only a small portion of the celestial object in view.
The reducer is simply screwed into the 1.25″ filter thread, for example directly into a webcam or photo adapter. With this, you enlarge the image field in one go and also capture more light. This produces brighter images with shorter exposure times. For example, you can capture a much larger portion of the lunar surface or create smooth videos for video astronomy.
For even more angle of view, you can increase the distance between the reducer and the camera sensor using intermediate rings. This way you flexibly tune the shortening to your setup. Thanks to the dual lens construction with coating, image quality remains high and reflections are minimized.
Application
Suitable for refractors, Maksutov telescopes and Schmidt-Cassegrains with an aperture ratio from f/8. Ideal for webcams and planetary cameras with 0.25-0.5-inch sensors. Not suitable for DSLRs or large CCD cameras as these chips are not fully exposed.
