iOptron iAFS2 2″ Automatic Focuser: 2-inch inline automatic focuser

The iAFS2 is an inline automatic focuser: it sits in the optical path, between the telescope and camera, rather than as a motor on an existing focuser. The drive via a worm gear provides zero backlash and passively locks the position (iLock), so that focus remains exact even when the telescope is slewed.

With a load capacity of 5 kg, the iAFS2 carries a complete photo train with camera, filter wheel, and off-axis guider. The resolution of 0.6 µm per step makes critical focusing achievable at f/5 and faster.

Three ways of focusing

You focus via the computer (ASCOM and INDI), with the direction buttons on the housing, or with the manual focus wheel that overrides the motor. This way, you can quickly get close manually and let the autofocus routine handle the final microns.

The built-in temperature sensor controls temperature compensation in your recording software so your focus stays sharp all night as the tube cools.

Supplied complete

The iAFS2 comes with a 2-inch visual back and USB-C cables; the position is maintained when power is lost. The integrated camera angle adjuster rotates your field of view without disengaging the photo train. Separate iAFS2 adapters are available for coupling with your telescope, from Celestron SCT to Askar and GSO.
