iOptron HAZ130 Strain Wave Alt-AZ Mount: the fork mount for the heaviest duty work

The iOptron HAZ130 is the flagship among alt-azimuth strain wave mounts: an all-metal fork mount with a 59 kg (130 lbs) payload capacity, without counterweight.

He rotates large Dobson replacements, hefty catadiopters, and dual setups silently and without backlash, with the friction brake acting as a safety net in the event of a power failure.

The Go2Nova 8411 hand controller, GPS, and USB communication complete the control system.

Strain wave without polar alignment

The strain wave gears deliver a high torque without backlash and without a counterweight. Furthermore, as a pure alt-azimuth mount, polar alignment is eliminated: set it up, align on one or two stars, and observe.

The friction brake safely stops the mount in the event of a power failure, and the power-down memory preserves the alignment for the next session.

Fork construction for maximum rigidity

The fork supports the tube on both sides, which significantly reduces torsion and vibration at these weights. The result is a steady image, even at high magnifications.

For a fixed or semi-permanent setup, the Tri-Pier 360 is the appropriate base.
