iOptron HAE29C-EC AZ/EQ Mount Dual SWG: strain wave with encoder precision
The iOptron HAE29C-EC is an AZ/EQ mount with strain wave drive (harmonic drive) on both axes. Without a counterweight, it carries 13.5 kg (29.7 lbs) with a head weight of only 3.7 kg. Use it altazimuthly for quick visual observation or equatorially for long-exposure astrophotography.
The EC version adds a high-resolution encoder to the right-ascent axis that corrects the periodic error in real time. For short and medium brand point distances, this allows you to take photos without autoguiding.
As a C-version, it operates without manual control: everything runs via Wi-Fi or the computer.

Real-time error correction on the RA axis
The encoder continuously measures the shaft movement and makes immediate adjustments, precisely where strain wave drives need it. Sharp stars in long unattended exposures, without a guidescope.
For long brand point-to-point distances, the ST-4 port remains available.

Strain wave: power without counterbalance
The strain wave gears deliver a high torque without backlash, making a counterweight unnecessary in most setups. That saves kilograms of heavy lifting and minutes of setup time.
The electronic friction brake on both axes safely stops the mount in case of a power failure, and the power-down memory saves the alignment, so you can continue without re-aligning.

Operation via app or computer
This C-version has full onboard control and works without manual operation: you control the mount via WiFi with iOptron Commander Lite or SkySafari on your smartphone or tablet, or from your computer via ASCOM and INDI.
The built-in zero position finder automatically finds the home position, and the USB port is for firmware updates and computer control. Autoguiding can be done via the ST-4 port.

Double saddle, ready for any tube
The dual saddle accepts Vixen and Losmandy-D rails. For heavier or unbalanced setups, add the optional counterweight bar with counterweight.
The head comes with a transport case or bag and without a tripod; it fits on matching iOptron tripods and mounts.
Included
