When you look through a fast-focusing Newton with wide eyepieces, you see the stars extending out to the edge of the image as comets. This distortion is called coma. This Paracorr focuser from Starlight Instruments, the FTF2015BCR with SIPS, has a coma corrector built in that eliminates it.
SIPS stands for Starlight Integrated Paracorr System. The Paracorr is a corrector from Tele Vue, pictured here with a lightweight Feather Touch focus lens. The faster the Newton, the more coma you see. That's why it's especially interesting for large telescopes. Dobson telescopes and Newtons with a small opening ratio, such as the Skyliner-400P FlexTube.
Because the corrector and the focus ring form one unit, you do not have to remove the corrector from the focus ring every time. When assembling, make sure the focus ring is at the correct height above the tube so that your focus is correct. For round tubes, use a base such as the adjustable curved focus base.
