The C9.25 with the stability its optics deserve
The Celestron SC 235/2350 CGEM II 925 The C9.25 lens, beloved by planetary observers, combines with the heavy CGEM II platform. The 235 mm aperture captures 1127 times more light than the naked eye, and the extra forgiving optical design of the 9.25 is renowned for its smooth, sharp image. On the CGEM II, that image remains vibration-free even at the highest magnifications.
The CGEM II Mount: Room for Serious Photography
The CGEM II is Celestron's heavier-duty German equatorial GoTo mount: 18 kg (40 lbs) payload capacity, NexStar+ hand controller with over 40,000 objects, All-Star Polar Alignment, permanently programmable periodic error correction (PPEC), and an autoguider port. Where the Advanced VX reaches its limit with these tube sizes, the CGEM II has plenty of margin: precisely what long, unattended exposures require. The mount operates on 12V; a power tank is the logical addition.
Visually and photographically balanced
On paper, it makes sense up to about 470x; the Dutch atmosphere usually limits planet work around 300x, and that’s exactly where this lens excels. Photographically, the assembly of tube, camera, and guide provides ample margin. The same tube on the lighter Advanced VX saves budget for those who primarily look at the visuals.
