The Bresser Messier 100/1400 GoTo combines the maintenance-free Maksutov optics with the fully automatic EXOS-2 GoTo mount. The telescope does the searching, focusing, and tracking itself; you just have to look.

Maksutov optics: high contrast, no maintenance

The Maksutov design folds a 1400 mm focal length into a short, closed tube. The meniscus lens corrects the mirror almost completely: no chromatic aberration and a small central obstruction, hence high contrast. The 100 mm aperture yields 54x with the included 26 mm eyepiece; use approximately 200x as the maximum (f/14). Collimation is rarely needed, and the optics are virtually maintenance-free. Allow for 30 to 45 minutes of cool-down time: the closed tube needs to reach ambient temperature for the sharpest image.

StarTracker GoTo System

The StarTracker hand controller knows over 100,000 objects and automatically positions the telescope. Servo motors on both axes then track accurately. Via the ST-4 port, you can later connect an autoguider.
