Sky-Watcher 1,25 inch O-III Filter: het specialistenfilter voor planetaire nevels

Het O-III filter laat uitsluitend het licht van tweevoudig geioniseerde zuurstof door (496 en 501 nm), precies de lijnen waarin planetaire nevels en supernovaresten stralen. Al het overige licht wordt geblokkeerd: de achtergrond wordt diepzwart en de nevel springt eruit.

De Ringnevel, Halternevel en vooral de Sluiernevel tonen met O-III detail dat zonder filter onbereikbaar is. Het filter komt het best tot zijn recht op telescopen vanaf circa 150 tot 200 mm opening; op kleine openingen wordt het beeld te donker.
