Bresser Newton EXOS-2/EQ-5 Mount on Tripod: the stable base that grows with you
The Bresser EXOS-2/EQ-5 is a manual equatorial mount on a sturdy steel tripod. Ball bearings in both axes provide smooth movements with minimal play, ensuring a steady image even at high magnifications. With the fine adjustments, you can manually track objects, and the Vixen clamp accepts virtually any telescope tube.
The strongest argument for the EXOS-2 is its upgrade path: the same mount can later be outfitted with the RA and Dec motor set for automatic tracking, or with one of the GoTo kits for fully automatic searching. You're buying a foundation, not a final destination.

Load capacity in practice
The EXOS-2 can carry up to 13 kg, making it suitable for refractors up to 152 mm and Newtonian telescopes up to 203 mm in aperture. For visual use, you have plenty of capacity; for photography, as a rule of thumb, use two-thirds of the maximum capacity.
Featured accessories
The logical first upgrade is the StarTracker GoTo kit; those who only want to track should choose the RA and DEC motor set.
