The fast f/3.9: made for astrophotography!
The Bresser Messier 203/800 is the photo-Newtonian of the Messier line. The fast f/3.9 optics collect a lot of signal in a short exposure time: precisely what you want for nebulae and galaxies. Visually, the same optics provide strikingly wide fields at low magnification.

Fast 8-inch optics
The 203-mm parabolic mirror captures more than 800 times as much light as the naked eye. With an 800-mm brand focal length (f/3.9), this is one of the fastest Newtonian telescopes in its class. The classic aluminum tube is factory-prepared for a 10:1 fine-focus reduction and a coma corrector, which is highly recommended for photography at this aperture ratio. With the 26 mm eyepiece, you’ll have a magnification of 31x.
The EXOS-2 mount
The EXOS-2 is a German equatorial mount of the EQ-5 class with a payload capacity of up to 13 kg. With the polar finder scope, you align quickly, and with the slow-motion cables, you track objects smoothly. If you want automatic tracking later, the mount can be upgraded with a motor set or the complete StarTracker GoTo system. For long exposures, the GoTo version with an ST-4 port is the more complete foundation.

Featured accessories
A comma corrector from our Optical accessories at f/3.9 is the most important photo upgrade. The Bresser 1:8 micro focuser (99 euros) makes critical focusing achievable. A Bresser laser collimator (74.90 euros) is indispensable at this focal ratio. For transport, the Oklop transport bag Newton 200/800 (119 euro).
For whom yes, for whom no
Recommended for: astrophotographers looking for a fast deep-sky telescope on a sturdy mount. Not recommended for: planetary observers; the 203/1200 with a longer brand focal ratio provides smoother detail. Compare via the Buying guide Whether the reflector page. Meer Bresser is on the brand page.
