EdgeHD: flat field of view all the way to the edges, even in photos

The Celestron EdgeHD 800 Advanced VX The 203 mm EdgeHD optics are combined with a photography-ready equatorial GoTo mount. EdgeHD is Celestron's aplanatic Schmidt-Cassegrain: extra lenses in the baffle make the field of view flat and coma-free, so that stars remain pinpoint even in the corners of a large sensor. Visually, this means razor-sharp edge-to-edge sharpness; photographically, it's the difference between good and publishable.

Naast het gecorrigeerde beeldveld heeft de EdgeHD spiegelvergrendelingen tegen verschuiving tijdens lange belichtingen en ventilatieopeningen voor snelle afkoeling. Met 841 keer meer licht dan het blote oog en 2032 mm brandpuntsafstand is dit een topinstrument voor bolhopen, planetaire nevels, sterrenstelsels en planeetwerk tot realistisch zo’n 300x onder Nederlandse lucht. Met de optionele f/7-reducer wordt het systeem breder en sneller voor deep-sky fotografie.

The Advanced VX: Built for Photography

The Advanced VX is a German equatorial GoTo mount with a 30 lb payload capacity, NexStar+ hand controller with over 40,000 objects, All-Star Polar Alignment for polar alignment without a view of Polaris, permanent periodic error correction (PPEC), and an autoguider port. The mount operates on 12V; a power tank is the logical addition.

For whom yes, for whom no

For: the astrophotographer and demanding visual observer who values edge sharpness and photographic future over the lowest price. Not for: those who look purely visually and want to save money; the standard SC 203/2032 on the same mount shows virtually the same in the eyepiece center.
