The Celestron Newtonian 200/1000 Advanced VX Mount a mature 8-inch mirror on the photography-ready Advanced VX mount. With 816 times more light than the naked eye, fainter details become visible: spiral arms in bright galaxies, structure in nebulae, and globular clusters resolving into stars. The f/5 focal ratio keeps exposure times short for astrophotographers.

The Advanced VX Mount: Built for Photography

The Advanced VX is a German equatorial GoTo mount with a 13.6 kg payload capacity, NexStar+ hand controller with over 40,000 objects, All-Star Polar Alignment for polar alignment without view of Polaris, permanent periodic error correction (PPEC), and an autoguider port. Precisely the foundation serious astrophotography requires. The mount operates on 12V; a powertank is the logical addition.

Magnification and field of view in balance

The 1000 mm brand focal length combines a wide field of view with sufficient magnification for planetary observation. On paper, magnifications up to about 400x are feasible; in practice in the Netherlands, however, atmospheric conditions usually limit planetary observations to around 300x. For deep-sky observing, mirror size is the most important factor, and in this price range, 200 mm is hard to beat.

Pros: the advanced observer or starting astrophotographer looking for maximum aperture per euro on a full-fledged equatorial GoTo. Cons: those who want a compact travel system; the one-meter tube requires a fixed location or a spacious car.
