If your Telrad is so close to the tube that you have to twist your neck to look through it, aiming quickly becomes tiring. A 2-inch Telrad elevation tilts the viewfinder so that you can see through it more easily and have more space between your face and the tube.
Especially useful on Dobsons and large reflector telescopes with a thick tube, or if there is another accessory next to the Telrad.
Check beforehand whether the higher viewfinder is still free of the focus ring and whether the telescope still fits in your bag or case. Position the viewfinder as straight as possible, then you won't have to adjust the Telrad as much afterwards. If you adjust the viewfinder often, be sure to check the following: the Bob’s Knobs adjustment screws for the Telrad.
If 2 inches isn't enough, then there is the Telrad base increase of 102 mm which further raises the seeker.
