ZWO Camera ASI 294 MC Pro Color: the cooled workhorse for deep-sky in color

The ASI294MC Pro has been one of the most used cooled color cameras in astrophotography for years, and that's no coincidence. The 4/3-inch Sony IMX294 sensor (4144 x 2822 pixels of 4.63 micrometers, 23.2 mm diagonal) offers a generous field of view, an enormous full well of 63,700 electrons, and a 14-bit readout with high dynamic range.

The active TEC cooling maintains the sensor at a stable low temperature, keeping long exposures clean and dark frames repeatable. In HCG mode (from gain 120 upwards), the readout noise drops below 2 electrons.

Large field, great dynamic

The 4/3 format captures complete nebula fields in one frame and is excellent for apochromats and Newtonians with a corrected image field. The high full well prevents bright stars from saturating while still rendering faint nebula tendrils.

With a quantum efficiency of 75% at 530 nm and low-glow readout, you can capture deep stacks with natural color gradients.

Cooled and complete

The cooling requires a 12-volt power supply and rewards you with low-noise recordings, even on summer nights. The DDR3 buffer memory keeps USB 3.0 transfer stable during long sequences.

With a duo-band filter, you can photograph emission nebulae even from the city, without a mono workflow.
