ZWO ASI462MM Mono: the infrared specialist for planetary photography

The ASI462MM is a monochrome planetary camera with a unique advantage: the Sony IMX462 sensor is exceptionally sensitive in the near-infrared. With a quantum efficiency of up to 89%, readout noise as low as 0.47 electrons, and 136 frames per second at full resolution, this is the camera for anyone who wants to capture the maximum detail from Jupiter, Saturn, and the Moon.

That very infrared sensitivity makes all the difference on nights with moderate seeing: in the infrared, the atmosphere is calmer, and this sensor takes advantage of that like no other.

Built for lucky imaging

With 136 fps you gather tens of thousands of frames for stacking in a short time. The 2.9 micrometer pixels provide the correct sampling for maximum detail on standard planetary setups (around f/15 to f/20 with Barlow).

The full well of 11,200 electrons and the very low readout noise provide an excellent signal-to-noise ratio, even at high gain.

Infrared and methane band

Through the ST-4 port, the camera can also be used as a sensitive guiding camera. Supplied including adapter set, USB 3.0 cable, and ST-4 cable.

Featured accessories

  • ZWO IR-pass filter 1.25 inch: steadier images above 850 nm
  • ZWO Methane Band Filter 1.25 inch: cloud belts on Jupiter and Saturn
  • ZWO ADC Mark II: corrects atmospheric dispersion for low-altitude planets

For whom yes, for whom no

Hello advanced planetary photographers who want to get the most out of their optics using filters and infrared. Always use a suitable solar filter for solar imaging.

Not beginners who directly want color images; then choose an MC color camera like the ASI662MC.
