ZWO ASI294MM Mono: two cameras in one thanks to the unlocked mode

The ASI294MM is a monochrome all-rounder with a special feature: the Sony IMX492 sensor works with standard 4.63 micrometer pixels (4144 x 2822, 11.7 MP), but switches to 2.32 micrometer pixels in unlocked mode for a resolution of 8288 x 5644 (47 MP).

This means that in a housing you have a sensitive deep-sky sensor with large pixels and a high-resolution sensor for sun, moon, and lucky imaging. The quantum efficiency of more than 75% and the HCG mode with readout noise below 2 electrons make short exposures productive, even without cooling.

Standard mode: sensitivity

With 4.63 micrometer pixels and a full well of up to 66,000 electrons, you capture a lot of signal in short exposures: ideal for LRGB work with a filter wheel and for stacking without cooling.

The 4/3 field of view covers complete nebulae on achromatic and corrected Newton telescopes.

Unlocked mode: resolution

Switching to 2.32 micrometers, you can sample fine structures on the solar disk (only with a safe solar filter or H-alpha system), the moon and planets, without a Barlow lens.

Through USB 3.0 and the ST-4 port, the camera integrates into any existing setup; guiding can also be used as a secondary function.
