ZWO ASI2600MC Duo Camera: Main Camera and Guider in One Housing
The ASI2600MC Duo elegantly solves a classic problem: guiding without a separate guide camera, guidescope, or off-axis guider. Behind the same window as the 26-megapixel Sony IMX571 main sensor is a second, sensitive SC2210 guide sensor. Both look through the same optics, so flexure between the guider and camera simply doesn't exist.
The main sensor is the well-known top-of-the-line APS-C model: 16-bit readout, 14 stops of dynamic range, quantum efficiency exceeding 91%, and completely free of amplifier glow. The two-stage TEC cooling system operates at up to 35 degrees Celsius below ambient temperature, with built-in anti-condensation heating.
Guidance without additional hardware
The SC2210 guide scope (1920 x 1080, 4-micrometer pixels, strong in near-infrared) also finds guide stars through narrowband filters. Control is simply via ASIAIR, PHD2, or NINA.
Fewer parts mean fewer cables, less weight on the focuser, and fewer sources of error in the field.
The 2600 quality
With 6248 x 4176 pixels of 3.76 micrometers on APS-C format, a full well of 50,000 electrons (80,000 in extended mode), and readout noise starting at 1.0 electron, the main sensor delivers deep, clean stacks.
The 512 MB DDR3 buffer memory and USB 3.0 keep long sequences stable; the M54 connector fits modern field correctors.
