Aligning a 10-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain on a German equatorial mount at the pole takes time, so it’s nice to be able to leave everything in place. The TGG-1 from Telegizmos is a cover for a 10-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain on such a mount. This keeps dust, dirt, and moisture away from your telescope.
The cover is made for the combination of a tube and equatorial mount. A SCT on a fork mount has a different shape, so be aware of which setup you have.
Put the telescope in parking mode before you measure and cover it, and take the viewfinder, dew cap, and any camera with you when you measure. Also, put the dust cap on the corrector plate, and only put the cover on it when the telescope is dry. You can read more about tripods and mounting in our explanation about mounting.
