Optolong Filters SHO 3nm 2″ is a complete filter set for advanced astrophotography. The set consists of three narrowband filters - H-alpha, OIII and SII - each with an extremely narrow bandwidth of 3 nm. This allows only the relevant emission lines to pass through, while effectively blocking light pollution and unwanted background radiation.
Thanks to this high selectivity, you capture even faint structures of emission nebulae with an excellent signal-to-noise ratio. In combination with color or monochrome cameras, this set allows you to create the famous SHO palette (also called Hubble palette). This creates images that are not only aesthetically impressive, but also scientifically inspired.
The filters feature multilayer anti-reflection coatings for maximum transmission and minimal halos. The optically polished glass ensures sharpness and contrast even on telescopes with fast aperture ratios up to f/3. Thanks to the robust aluminum filter cells, they fit seamlessly into standard 2″ filter wheels and adapters.
Observation goals
This filter set is ideal for astrophotographers who want to capture emission nebulae in all their glory, even from areas with heavy light pollution. Typical targets include the Veil Nebula, the Rosette Nebula and the Crab Nebula. Using the H-alpha, OIII and SII filters together creates the iconic Hubble SHO palette, with rich colors and detailed textures.
