Optolong Filters UHC Filter 2″ is a classic contrast-enhancing filter specially designed to make deep-sky objects more visible even under light-polluted conditions. The UHC (Ultra High Contrast) filter blocks interfering emissions from sodium and mercury lamps, while allowing the main emission lines of deep-sky objects - H-beta, OIII and partial H-alpha - to pass virtually unhindered.
This filter darkens the sky background, allowing nebulae, star clusters and galaxy structures to show significantly more contrast. Well-known objects such as the Orion Nebula, Veil Nebula and Lagoon Nebula come into focus much more convincingly as a result. The UHC filter can be used both visually and photographically, and offers excellent value for money for those who want to improve their deep-sky observations.
Thanks to its 2″ mount, the filter is compatible with wide-angle eyepieces and camera adapters, making it particularly suitable for observers and astrophotographers working with wide fields. The filter glass is multi-reflective coated and mounted in a robust aluminum mount for maximum durability.
Observation goals
This filter is ideal for visual deep-sky observations with telescopes using 2″ eyepieces. Also suitable for astrophotography with DSLRs and color cameras, especially for nebulae and galaxy fields. For planets and galaxies, the effect is limited, as they do not have strong emission lines.
