Optolong Filters L-eNhance 2″ is a dual-band filter designed specifically for astrophotography with color cameras and DSLRs in light-polluted environments. This filter allows almost exclusively the emission lines H-alpha, H-beta and OIII to pass through. As a result, emission nebulae and planetary nebulae light up much stronger, while interfering artificial light from sodium and mercury lamps is effectively blocked.
The result: a darker sky background, natural colors and sharp contrasts. Even from the city, this allows you to take detailed shots that come close to the quality of monochrome cameras with narrow-band filters. Unlike wider light pollution filters (such as CLS or L-Pro), the L-eNhance is much more selective, making it especially suitable for emission and planetary nebulae. Galaxies and reflection nebulae are outside the optimal range of this filter.
The filter is constructed of high-quality Schott glass and coated with a multiple IBAD (ion beam assisted deposition) coating. This ensures high transmission (up to 90%), durability and stability in temperature changes. Thanks to its 2″ mount, the L-eNhance is easy to use in standard-sized filter wheels, adapters and eyepiece mounts.
Observation goals
The Optolong L-eNhance 2″ is ideal for astrophotography of emission nebulae (such as Orion and the Veil Nebula), planetary nebulae and supernova remnants, including in urban areas. For visual use the added value is limited, this filter is primarily designed for photography. Do not use as a solar filter.
