Omegon Velox 462 C Camera Color: fast Full HD planetary camera in color
The veLOX 462 C is built around the color Sony IMX462. The sensor combines high sensitivity with a very high readout speed: 152 frames per second at Full HD. That is precisely the feature that allows you to freeze the seeing in planetary photography.
In practice, you film for a minute or two, after which you use stacking software to select the sharpest percentage of the frames. This is how you extract detail from an image that seemed unstable live.

Sensor and speed
The sensor measures 5.6 by 3.1 mm and has 1920 x 1080 pixels of 2.9 micrometers. The readout is performed with a 14-bit ADC, which helps to prevent the bright parts of the Moon from blowing out.
With the region of interest function, you only read out the part of the sensor where the planet is located. As a result, the frame rate increases even further.

Lucky imaging in practice
Jupiter rotates rapidly on its axis, so a recording sequence must not take too long. With this camera, you have enough frames for a stacked image in two minutes.
The same approach works for the Moon. By photographing in mosaic, you build up a sharp overall image from multiple series.

Autoguiding with an ST4 port
The camera has a built-in ST4 port. You connect it directly to the autoguider port of your mount and correct the tracking during long exposures. The veLOX 462 C is fast enough to also serve as an autoguider.
PHD2 recognizes the camera natively. It also works with N.I.N.A., SharpCap, and similar programs via the ASCOM and INDI drivers.

Connect to your telescope
The housing has the shape and diameter of a 1.25-inch eyepiece. So you can slide the camera into almost any focuser. The flange distance is 12.5 mm; with the included extension tube, it becomes 17.5 mm.
The housing has a C- and CS-mount thread. You can use 1.25-inch filters via the included adapter. The cable length is 1.5 meters.

Featured accessories
An atmospheric dispersion corrector removes the color fringing on planets that are low in the sky. A Barlow lens brings the image scale to the level that suits your telescope.
