Omegon Clear Sky Light Pollution Filter 1.25 inch: a dark background under a city sky

Under a lightly polluted sky, you often see a gray glow instead of a deep black background. The Clear Sky filter tackles that glow from two angles.

Artificial light and airglow at the same time

The filter blocks the wavelengths of sodium and mercury lamps, and also reduces the natural night skyglow that originates in the upper layers of the atmosphere. This second component is ignored by many filters, while it is decisive in semi-dark locations.

Colors remain correct

As a broadband sperfilter, the Clear Sky only lets usable light pass through, without distorting the natural colors of the object. Nebulae, star clusters, and faint deep-sky objects gain structure and detail, even with telescopes up to 150mm in aperture.

Featured accessories

Screws onto the 1.25-inch thread of any standard eyepiece. For narrower bandpasses on emission nebulae, a UHC or OIII filter is the next step.
