Is your camera not in focus because the focal point is too far out? With this extension tube for a 2.5-inch focus ring, you move the focus ring 2.25 inches away from the base, about 5.7 cm.
The extension tube of Starlight Instruments has a diameter of 2.5 inches and sits between the base and the focus lens. This is convenient for use with a Loose Newton tube, For example, if you attach a focus lever that is lower than the old one, so that the focal point falls outside the reach of the extension.
First, measure how much extra length you need, for example by using the camera to see how much you still lack in focus. Increasing the magnification too much will reduce your range of view inwards, and you may then no longer be able to focus visually. Also check that the magnification fits the 2.5-inch size of your base and focus lens. For more information on setting up your telescope, read adjust telescope.
Is a smaller step enough, then there is the 1.25 inch increase.
