If you want to screw parts from Takahashi with an M72x1 thread directly onto your focus lens, you need a suitable adapter. This M72x1 adapter from Starlight Instruments is designed for a 3 inch focus lens and has exactly the same thread size.
The end cap is the piece on the back of a focuser that you connect to the ocular, diagonal, or camera. This version fits on a 3 inch focuser. You can find more focusers and parts at our focusers for telescopes.
A threaded connection keeps the camera straight and prevents tilting, which is important for sharp stars even in the corners when taking astrophotography. First check that your focus ring is really 3 inches and that the parts have an M72x1 thread. For other connections between the focus ring and the camera, see the camera accessories for astrophotography.
If you have a 3.5 inch viewfinder, then there is one end cap with 72×1 mm for 3.5 inch. If you are looking for an ordinary replacement, look at the end cap for 3 inch focusers.
