If your telescope sits in a shed, garage or observatory for weeks, moisture can still remain behind an ordinary cap. With this dust cover with a desiccant, you seal a 2-inch opening, while the desiccant absorbs moisture from the air behind the cover.
The cap fits on any 2 inch opening, such as the outlet of a Single focus lens or a 2 inch diagonal. This reduces the risk of condensation or deposits on lenses and mirrors if the telescope is left idle for a while.
After a wet night, let the optics dry completely before you install the hood. A desiccant can only absorb a limited amount of moisture, so check occasionally if it still works. If you want to prevent dew during observation, check the rain caps and rain bands.
