Rainband for 5 inch telescopes (127 mm) | Astrozap

Telescopes with a corrector plate on the front are extra sensitive to fog because that glass looks straight at the cold sky. With this Astrozap fog band for a 5-inch telescope, you keep that glass dry.

Think of a Maksutov or Schmidt-Cassegrain of 127 mm, like the Skymax-127 Maksutov, Or a refractor of the same size. You place the band around the tube close to the front glass and connect it to a dew point regulator. You can find other models at Maksutov-Cassegrain telescopes.

A dew cap helps a little, but on really wet nights, a heating band makes the difference between continuing and packing up. Start low on the regulator and only increase it if necessary.

If you have a slightly larger telescope, then it will fit. the band for 6 inch telescopes better.
