Omegon Color Filter Dark Blue #38A 1.25 inch: clouds on Jupiter come to light

This dark blue color filter makes fine structures in the atmospheres of the large planets visible. On Jupiter, you see clearer contrasts in the cloud bands and storm regions, including the Great Red Spot. Ringlets and atmospheric details also come out better on Saturn.

Dark blue greatly suppresses the red part of the spectrum. This results in a lot of contrast, but also consumes light: on smaller telescopes, the image becomes too dark quickly.

Compatibility

Screw into each 1.25-inch eyepiece. Requires a wide opening. Color filters work best on a telescope with a diameter of about 100 mm: the filter takes up light, and that must be able to accommodate the opening.
