A buy telescope in BelgiumThere's a good chance you'll quickly end up at Dutch webshops. That makes sense: the selection is larger and the prices are sharper. But then the doubt sets in. How much does shipping actually cost? Can I pay with Bancontact? And what about the warranty if the device breaks?
The short version: you order from us just like a Dutch customer. Same price, same warranty, same service. On this page, you'll find out exactly what you pay and how it works, with no surprises at checkout.
Buying a telescope in Belgium: here's how it works
Telescoop.nl delivers daily throughout Belgium, in both Flanders and Wallonia. You don’t have to worry about import duties or additional VAT: the Netherlands and Belgium are part of the same single market and both have a VAT rate of 21%. The price you see on the product page is the price you pay.
What remains the same for Dutch customers:
- Same product prices, no surcharge for foreign countries
- The same legal warranty, valid throughout the EU
- 30-day cooling-off period
- Lifelong support from people who stargaze themselves
What does shipping to Belgium cost?
We calculate shipping costs dynamically, based on the weight and size of what you order. An eyepiece simply travels differently than a complete Dobson telescope. You will therefore see the exact amount directly in your shopping cart, even before you check out. No surprises at the final step.
One exception deserves an explanation: large Dobsons starting from 8 inches. Those come in two dozen well, the tube and the base, both heavy and both fragile. We pack them separately and insured, because a mirror that gets misaligned in transit costs you more than the shipping. The shipping price is therefore higher than for a compact telescope, and that amount is also clearly visible beforehand in the shopping cart.
The rates follow our carrier's current prices and may therefore vary slightly each year. Want to be sure? Put the product in your shopping cart and choose Belgium as the country: you will immediately see what the shipping costs are.
Pay with Bancontact
Bancontact is simply listed among the payment methods at checkout. You do not need to use a credit card or go through a foreign payment system. You can choose from:
- Bancontact
- Credit Card (Visa, Mastercard)
- Klarna, pay later or in installments
- Bank transfer
The Klarna option is particularly worth mentioning: a telescope is a purchase you think about for a while. Paying afterward takes the pressure off.
Delivery time to Belgium: two business days
In-stock items ship the same business day. After that, your order will be within two business days at your doorstep, in Flanders and Wallonia. You'll automatically receive a track & trace code, so you'll know exactly when your package arrives.
If a product is on backorder, you will see the expected shipping date on the product page itself. We prefer to give a realistic date rather than an optimistic one.
Warranty, returns, and cooling-off period
- 30-day cooling-off period. If you don't like the telescope, you can send it back. Unused and complete, as everywhere.
- Statutory warranty, valid throughout the EU. So you don't have to go to the Netherlands to claim your rights.
- Repair and service We do it ourselves. You won't get a call center, but someone who knows the device.
Our customers rate us with a 9.5 based on over 590 reviews (WebwinkelKeur). There are many Belgian customers among them.

You can also get a telescope from us rent before you buy. Useful if you are hesitating between two types, or if you want to know if the hobby is right for you before spending hundreds of euros.
Would you like to see devices in real life? A selection of our telescopes is at the Observeum observatory in Burgum (Friesland). Always plan your visit by appointment via [email protected], then we ensure that the model you want to see is there and that someone is available to advise you. For Belgian customers, emailing, messaging, or calling is usually more practical: we sell primarily online and are happy to advise you remotely.
