If you want to view birds, wildlife or details from hundreds of meters away with a viewfinder that still works well, a 65 mm spotting scope is a great size. The Bushnell Nitro spotting scope combines a 20 to 60x zoom eyepiece with a 65 mm objective lens.
You set it on a tripod, like the aluminum 028B tripod from Bushnell; make sure the connection fits. Models with a straight and angled eyepiece can be compared with all our spotting scopes.
With 60 times you see every vibration, so secure the clamps properly and touch the viewfinder as little as possible during viewing. Find your subject 20 times and then zoom in. At the highest magnification, the image becomes darker and you see the air vibrating above warm ground. Often a setting around 30 to 40 times produces the best image.
Another 20-60×65 from Bushnell is the Trophy Xtreme with a straight view.
