Baader BDSF Digital Solar Filter 100 mm: solar photography with the shortest exposure times
The BDSF (Baader Digital Solar Filter) line is built for one purpose: top-tier digital solar photography. The AstroSolar PHOTO Film with density OD 3.8 transmits more light than the visual OD 5.0 film. This allows for extremely short exposure times, which in turn freeze atmospheric turbulence (lucky imaging) and extract maximum detail from sunspots.
Important: This filter is exclusively for photography with a camera. Never look through it with your eye, not even through the optical viewfinder of a DSLR. This will lead to permanent eye damage. For visual solar observation, choose the ASTF line with OD 5.0.

Same proven casing as the ASTF series
The film is mounted tension-free in a temperature-compensated mount to maintain optical quality at any temperature. Adjustable centering bolts with rubber profiles adapt the filter to the tube diameter, and safety straps secure the assembly.
For those who want the most out of it
With high-magnification solar photography, the seeing determines the result. The shorter the shutter speed, the higher the chance of a sharp frame. With OD 3.8, you enter the range where lucky imaging really works.
